Melboden Pizzeria: a website and a staff portal that run themselves.
Melboden is a pizzeria in a flour storehouse from 1742 at Bærums Verk, outside Oslo. New owners took over in 2025 and wanted two things: a website that matched the place, and a way to run rotas for seven people without spreadsheets.
The website
Nine pages: home, menu, take-away, private events, gift cards, about, contact, privacy and terms. Designed around the building and the food, written in Norwegian, and structured for Google with menu and opening-hours data.

The staff portal
A separate app at ansatt.melboden.net for owners and staff. Owners plan the month; staff see their shifts, submit wishes and swap shifts from the phone.
- AI-assisted rota suggestions that respect wishes, closed days and rest rules
- Shift wishes in green, amber and red, month by month
- Shift confirmation, 'can't make it' with a reason, and swaps between colleagues
- Menu CMS, opening-hour periods and notices published to the website
- Events module feeding the homepage
- E-mail on publish, iCal feeds, payroll CSV to the manager
What changed for the owners
They no longer ask a developer to change a price or a holiday closing. They do it in the portal and the website updates within minutes. Rotas go out with an e-mail, staff confirm on the phone, and the payroll basis arrives as a file each month.
